A Waste Free Beauty Routine

By Mckenna Zandecki

Men and women all deserve to pamper themselves from time to time. Although spa days often end up making your wallet cry at the end of the day while many treatments and activities can break the bank. Getting a facial or massage always feels amazing although there are plenty of ways to accomplish the same satisfaction in the comfort of your own home. Homemade beauty/skin care products can be used by both men and women and are far more cost effective. You will also have fun making these products while many of them are natural enough to eat. Below are five products you can make at home that are worthwhile and won’t make a dent in your bank account.

Coffee Body and Face Scrub

  • Finely ground coffee

  • White or brown sugar

  • Coconut Oil

  • Vanilla extract

  • Essential oils (optional, for smell)

This scrub is a great way to eliminate the dead skin on your body and can be used all over. Take a small amount in hand and gently start exfoliating the chosen area. The coffee and sugar have a sweet smell that will wake you up in the morning. Add vanilla or essential oils to enhance the enlightening smell. This scrub will leave your body feeling fresh, soft and smooth after a warm shower.

Lip Scrub

  • Cane sugar

  • Honey

  • Oil of choice (optional)

  • Essential oils or smelling aspect

This is a scrub I use myself and love it. Add each ingredient as you please until you reach the desired amount you want to make. There should be an even ratio of sugar to honey to create a semi smooth consistency. The honey will exfoliate all dead and dry skin from your lips and the honey and oil will work together to keep them moisturized and smooth. Lick the scrub off to remove and your done!

Dry Skin Face Mask

  • 1 Teaspoon raw honey

  • 1 teaspoon mashed avocado

  • 1 teaspoon plain whole milk yogurt

As the weather gets colder, this mask will help replenish and moisturize your skin. This mask will also help smooth the skin and reduce small pores. This vitamin rich mask will bring your dry skin to life and help nourish your facial skin!

Sea Salt Texture Hair Spray

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1 tablespoon sea salt

  • 1-2 teaspoons argan oil or avocado oil

  • 4-5 drops essential oils (optional)

You will also want to have spray bottle for easy application!

Everyone loves a perfect beach wave in their hair although this look isn’t always easy to get naturally. This sea salt spray it’ll make your hair look as if you just walked out of the ocean. It is so easy to make and will give you a perfect look.

Hair Mask

  • Coconut oil

  • 1 egg

  • Honey

This is one I use and I love the results. Leave this hair mask in for 2-6 hours (keep it in overnight for best results) and wash out with shampoo. This mask will leave your hair incredibly soft, silky and smooth. If you want to simplify it, just use coconut oil to get very similar effects. Another benefit is that this mask will help your hair grow over time!
