Midnight Studios & Shane Gonzales
May 11, 2017
Fashion belongs to the youth. Its trends, styles, and foreseeable future all stem from the wants and needs of those who admire it most. Visionary and fashion mogul Kanye West famously said that we have to “listen to the kids, bro.” So in 2014, when a young 19 year old named Shane Gonzales created his own brand Midnight Studios, it was hard not to listen to him too.
Midnight Studios, once a no-name brand showcasing yet another “edgy aesthetic”, was ranked among the fastest-growing, most influential brands of 2016. Having collaborations with heavy-hitters like Virgil Abloh and his powerhouse brand Off White, it’s clear that Midnight Studios is here to stay with no plans of falling off.
A lot of Midnight Studios success can be attributed to a lucky break with fashion icons Ian Connor and A$AP Rocky. As covered in multiple interviews, Shane was friends with Ian for several months before being brought to Rocky. Rocky was looking for some new designs and direction for his upcoming album and really fell in love with the punk-vibes Shane was delivering with his new brand. Words and pieces were exchanged and what followed was Rocky wearing one of Midnight Studios’ pieces in his Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye Pt. 2 music video, thus breaking the brand out of its obscurity and into the mainstream fashion world.

Since then, Midnight Studios has not fallen short of delivering pieces that stand out from the competition. Now a staple in the wardrobe of anyone looking to pull off that Sex Pistols vibe, Midnight Studios can now be found in various boutiques both online and off, as well as from their own Official Website .
